Experience
During Mr. Calvin McCall’s 30 years of experience in the
concrete construction and prestressed concrete industry,
he has developed and managed quality assurance, quality
control and concrete inspection programs. He worked in
operations and quality control with Exposaic Industries in
Charlotte, North Carolina and was technical services
manager for Blue Circle Cement also in Charlotte where
his duties included establishing properties for Portland
cement, investigating numerous types of concrete and
concrete construction problems. McCall has developed
high strength and early high strength concrete mixtures
and gained experience in design, construction and evaluation of concrete slabs.
Mr. McCall investigates field problems related to material deficiencies, admixture and
cement compatibility, and mix designs that affect strength, setting, and finishing. He
evaluates the cause of cracking, surface defects and distress and provides costeffective
solutions. Mr. McCall served as Technical Director for Baker Concrete
Construction investigating concrete problems throughout the United States and senior materials engineer for Structural Services Inc..
Activities
Mr. McCall is a Fellow in the American Concrete Institute and is the current chairman of ACI
301 (Specifications for Concrete). He is also a member of ACI 318 (Structural Concrete
Building Code), Technical Specification Committee, Certification Program Committee,
Technical Specification Committee, ACI 122 Energy Conservation, ACI 213 Lightweight
Aggregate and Concrete, ACI 223 Shrinkage Compensating Concrete, and ACI 533 Precast
Panels. Mr. McCall also served on the Federal Highway Administration ASR Expert Task
Group
Honors and Affiliations
Mr. McCall is a member of the Board of Directors and serves as a speaker for several of
the ACI Educational Seminars. He was voted Speaker of the Year in 2002. McCall is a member of American Society of Testing and Materials and serves on Committee C1 and C9 as well as several subcommittees.
Education
Civil Engineering Technology from Central Piedmont Community College.
